I'm Not A Bitch! I Just Have Allergies!
For the last several years I have been tormented by splitting headaches. I was always tired, too. A simple trip to the park with the kids left me feeling exhausted. In typical guilty mother form, I felt bad for feeling so bad. But last year I had a knee surgery and, for the first time in our family's medical history, we met our health insurance deductible so I went crazy! I went to an allergist.
Guess what?
I have allergies! All this time I thought my fabulous suburban life was giving me a headache and sapping my energy. I called it the "ungrateful bitch syndrome."
But I have allergies!
Yahoo!
Seriously.
Yahoo!
I have always loved this time of year, when everything is blooming, but this seemed to be the time of year that I was the most uncomfortable, too. I am so thrilled to know that there is a physiological reason for my syndrome.
I have a runny nose and itchy eyes and I am short of breath so I am test driving allergy medications. So far I am successfully using Optivar for my itchy eyes. (It burns soo good!) I have also developed a new appreciation for those kids that are crushing up little red Sudafed pills (the kind you have to sign for at Walgreens.) I am beginnning to think that it is possible that all of those meth makers are just kids with really bad allergies gone bad. Those little red pills are amazing and despite the fact that my doctor and pharmacist and webmd.com insist that it is not possible to become addicted to Sudafed it doesn't feel right to love a drug like I do. On the advice of my doctor I also started a prescription of Allegra D.
I don't like having allergies but I am really happy to know that my problems aren't just my bad attitude. Look at our lovely yard. Everything is so colorful and alive. What kind of monster would be grumping about while living in the middle of this suburban bliss?

Those blooms are so beautiful...
You're not alone girlfriend! Everything is so beautiful out there right now. The problem is, that everytime I go outside my eyes swell up, tear up and itch so bad that I can't enjoy the beauty (not to mention sounding like a 4 pack a day smoker with my wheezing.)
Your yard is absolutely lovely;)
Glad to hear you got to the bottom of it and found out what was making you feel bad. What a beautiful picture of the flowers in your garden
Allergies aren't fun but at least there is something you can do about them! Glad you found out!
BEAUTIFUL!!!!
I have pretty bad allergies. It's hard...they get worse as you get older, too. Or, you just have a lower tolerance for discomfort.
Maybe you were just talking about me, except mine is year long!
The flowers are beautiful though aren't they?
Beautiful photo's! And I know all too well the allergy waltz... one two three sneeze, one two three itchy eyes, one two three blow your nose... and the waltz lasts for months... I am a daily Allegra user and it seems to do the trick.. Best of luck with the new knee and the new allergy medications, you will be a new woman! Hey...gues what, you already are! Blessings to you and yours. Love and Light, Nina P
I'm so glad ya found out what was causing your headaches. I have found that if I start eating a teaspoon full of raw honey from the area everyday several weeks before allergy season, it really helps with the allergies. The pollen in the honey helps your body build resistance to the pollutants. Just sayin.......
You have beautiful bloomers girl!
God bless and have a terrific Thursday!!!
My husband is a mess and has been a Zyrtec Zombie for about a month. I'm partial to Mucinex D, mainly for the buzz and appetite control. J2 is on Allegra and it does seem to help.
The beauty of the outdoors certainly has it's price.
I just wanted to pop over and tell ya to have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend.
God bless!
They were SO bad in Florida this Spring too!

This post made me laugh because I love those little red sudafed pills too. They are magic for allergy relief.
You're not actually allergic to life in the suburbs...it's just the plant life. That's great news! I, too, suffer from the seasonal allergy torture. My doc. suggested I try that Nasonex stuff that you squirt into your nostrils. Once you get over the weirdness of squirting something INTO holes that are usually only used for an EXIT, it works great! Even handles my cat allergies too. I highly recommend it.
Cheers!
